Choosing a Technology for Study

Are there any students, as they head to college, or as they work through college, who have a focus in mind for a specific brand of technology they are going to work with when they get a job? I've been wondering this. In my career, there was a point many years ago that I decided Oracle Database products were my focus. Period. I often wish I'd made the decision earlier in my career, which led me to think about how early one could reasonably make that decision. Whatever you end up working on in your first job? Naturally, one would tend to take a few years to settle into something. But are there any college students who make either the decision to work for a specific company or to work with a specific brand of technology - when they eventually get a job?
